Vik is a small, seaside village on the southern coast of Iceland, which is notable for its charm and black sand beaches. While incredibly small, this is one of the most populous regions along the southern coast. While we had no such luck, it's a great spot to see the northern lights. Make sure to find your way to the picture-esque little church for a great view of the village and landscape.
Reynisfjara Beach is a must-see. This beach contains volcanic black sand, stunning rock formations and basalt columns. It's absolutely beautiful and, like most landmarks in Iceland, difficult to do justice through photos. During our visit in late September, Vik was by far the coldest location we visited! Be sure to dress warm as that arctic breeze is no joke.
